The Chen Lab regularly recruits self-motivated outstanding students as Graduate Research Assistants (GRA). Preferred students may have a strong background in (food, agricultural, chemical, and/or electrical) engineering, modeling experience (multiphysics modeling and/or machine learning), and/or programming skills (Matlab, Python, R, etc.).
Interested candidates, please send the compiled documents of CV/resume, transcripts, English proficiency scores (international applicants), GRE scores (highly encouraged), and a short essay to describe your previous modeling/engineering experiences with the email subject “Prospective student in Food Engineering” to Dr. Chen at jiajia.chen@utk.edu. The promising candidate will be contacted shortly after the documents are received.
GRA package includes annual stipends ($35k+), tuition and fees (~16k), and health insurance (~2k). Outstanding students will be nominated for a Fellowship of $5k/year for 4 years. Tennessee also does not have a state income tax.
